Here he is up high in the apple tree. I took this photo from inside the house when he called out to me, wanting me to see how high he was.
Now that he conquered the apple tree, he moved on to the bigger maple in the corner of the yard. The lowest branches of the maple were out of reach, but that didn't deter Luke from climbing. He pulled a little 'play structure' (as he calls it) across the yard to boost himself up. Here's the picture Suzanna sent me today while I was at work to show me Luke's progress!
Interestingly, Suzanna and I haven't felt very concerned about him climbing so high in the trees. Our feeling is that if he is confident and strong enough to climb carefully up that high, then he can get himself back down safely too (knock on wood?). He's typically pretty respectful of dangers like heights and big bodies of water.
