Two in One Day!
Wow! Two posts in one day! How crazy! That makes 3 in the month of March... Today was Josh's birthday, and I was thinking about him all day. It also happens to be Lisa's 24th birthday (she works with us at the office), and my grandmother-in-law is celebrating her 82nd (?) birthday today, too, so Happy Birthday Josh (4), Lisa, and Grammie (Jeff's Mom). Well, I was just blog-surfing and saw a few people did a survey called, "How many 5 year-olds could you take in a fight?" Thinking it sounded rather interesting, I did the survey, and the results are...
A New Resolution
Just as a warning, this post contains some mild-level gross descriptions of self-inflicted "surgery."
I've decided it's time to make a new resolution to stop biting my fingernails. When I was on my mission, I challenged an investigator to stop smoking. We made a deal that if I wouldn't bite my fingernails, she wouldn't smoke. It worked. I didn't bite my fingernails for the rest of my mission (and for a long time since coming home), and she stopped smoking and was baptized right before I came home. I should actually find that picture (from her baptism in the Baltic Sea) and post it sometime. Anyway, the purpose was served and Silvia is now a member of the church, but I've started biting my nails again. What a disgusting habit it is. And it seems like the only time I do it is when I'm studying for an exam or something similar. So I have Econ 381- Intermediate Macroeconomics to blame for this week's post. I had a big test a few days ago, so I spent a long time reading through the chapters and studying my extensive notes, all the while biting away at my nails. So when I went to take the test, I already noticed that my right index finger was pretty sore and a little red. I should have taken pictures to show the "progress" of the swelling. But last night it was SO bad and swollen so big that I decided it was time to stop soaking my finger in hot water and epsom salts and just revert to my favorite mission tool, my Leatherman Jr. I used the extremely sharp knife to cut away the skin and ingrown nail. At one point I was lifting part of the jagged nail up from the area by the cuticle and POP, I felt a rush of relief as the pain and pressure eased and the pus started coming out. It turned into a pretty big bubble on my nail, so I made Suzanna get the camera to take a picture. We took a few shots, but only one turned out decently. So I've added it as a reminder to myself not to bite my fingernails anymore.

Here's the picture we took last night. It was pretty painful, but so relieving when it finally came out. This morning my finger is much less swollen, though still tender. Hopefully it will all fix itself now...

300 miles down, 700 left...
Well, the title of this post really says it all. I just got off the bike for the 5th time this week, and after adding up the miles, I found that I just broke 300 miles! Only 700 more until I reach 1,000.
So Suzanna and I have been looking for a new apartment for the last couple of weeks. We told our landlord a while ago that we were going to stay here at least through April (since that's when Suzanna graduates), but it turns out that he interpreted that to mean that we're leaving no matter what at the end of April. So he's been showing our apartment to potential rentors. We're fine with that since we want to get out of here anyway. If anybody knows of an apartment up for rent (preferrably in north Provo or somewhere in Orem), let us know!
